Zak Godwin, a 57-year-old, musician of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, was cruelly struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle while he was on foot in Nashville on Saturday. Friends and family are mourning his devastating loss. Zak was a member of Blackheart, a Record label founded by Joan Jett and Kenny Laguna. His demise news was confirmed by his band Blackheart.

Blackheart posted their condolences, saying,

Zak Godwin passed away yesterday, December 10th, after being run down by a hit-and-run driver. He is a beloved member of the Blackheart team. Zak Godwin is a good man. He will be missed. His last concert with the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts crew was Nov 19, in Pittsburgh.”

Zak Godwin II cause of death was an accident. Metro Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash on Charlotte Pike on Saturday as Zak Godwin.

The incident happened Saturday night on Charlotte Pike close to 50th Avenue North. Investigators are still working to determine the identification of the concerned vehicle.

Godwin seemed to have been struck while standing in the middle of Charlotte Pike. On Charlotte Pike at 50th Avenue North, police can be seen gathering evidence and examining the area.

Police arrived on the scene around 5:40. There were no eyewitnesses to the collision. There was some car wreckage on the road.

Who was Zak Godwin?

Zak is a brilliant guitarist, songwriter, and all-around musician. He was a kind Nordic giant who attended the Berklee School of Music and was raised by hippies in a teepee in Vermont.
