Who was Steve Zengel?
The Los Caidos Cigars brand, which debuted in 2016, was founded by Zengel, who is well-known in the premium cigar sector. The native of New Jersey worked as a college basketball coach and professor. These jobs provided him the opportunity to coach young people, which was very fulfilling for him.
He eventually changed careers to become a financial counsellor with a focus on helping professional players, which enabled him to assist them in achieving financial security when their playing careers were done. After Hurricane Sandy ravaged his city and destroyed his cigar shop, he was able to work as a vice principal at a high school in New Jersey for three and a half years because to his Ed.E. in education.
After working as a Hampton University assistant coach, Zengel had a part-time job at Emerson’s Cigars. His desire to work in the cigar industry started to materialise here. In March 2012, Zengel and his family relocated to New Jersey, where they launched Beach House Cigars in Seaside Heights.
Eight months after it had opened, Beach House Cigars was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy when it reached the Jersey Shore in October 2012. Zengel continued to pursue his goal of working with cigars. Instead, he reopened Beach House Cigars in Wall, New Jersey, around six months later with the assistance of Scott Regina, his old employer and friend.
In 2015, Zengel shut down Beach House Cigars at the prompting of one of his clients and launched his own brand, Los Caidos.
In February 2016, Los Caidos was established with the assistance of Paul Palmer, president of Aganorsa Leaf, at the Cigar Emporium in Lyndhurst. In support of police organisations, Zengel promised to donate $1 from each cigar sale under this brand. As Los Caidos grew over time, Zengel scaled the brand appropriately.
The manufacturing run and Zengel’s charity endeavors rose as Los Caidos added additional clients. The brand’s mission grew, and sales of the cigar started to support fallen firemen in addition to helping the police.
Zengel established Life of a Ride Time, a 501(c)(3) organization that gathered money for the survivors of deceased police and fire personnel. A 13-day motorbike trip across the United States that Zengel did in 2016 to raise awareness for Los Caidos served as the impetus for this organization.
Zengel aimed to raise $1 million for the nonprofits supported by Los Caidos’ cigars in 2019 by hosting 20 cigar and Life of Ride Time events. Through Los Caidos, Zengel intended that businesses and their clients might assist law enforcement and firemen.
Additionally, he aimed to demonstrate to the market that it was feasible to create a strong national brand by putting the interests of the community above those of the bottom line. One cigar at a time, Zengel was dedicated to making a good difference in his neighbourhood and the wider globe.
