Sam Whitelock was part of the world champion team, the Baby All Blacks, at the 2008 IRB World Junior Championships. He made five appearances and scored a try against Argentina. Sam Whiterock made his Air New Zealand Cup debut for Canterbury against Wellington in 2008 and made his Super Rugby debut for the Crusaders in the 2010 Super 14 season against the Highlanders.
