Damon Rogers Johnson, born July 13, 1964, professionally known as Damon Johnson, is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and a member of Thin Lizzy. He co-founded Brother Cane in the 1990s before he later joined Alice Cooper’s band as a lead guitarist.

Johnson moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1987 as a result of an invitation to join Split the Dark, an established band with a frontman who was a former member of the power-pop group Hotel.

The band Split the Dark, which won the 1986 MTV “Basement Tapes” competition but was unable to land a record deal, was a particularly well-liked act on the Southeast US college club circuit.

Later, as the guitarist for the Atlanta, Georgia band Witness and the Memphis, Tennessee band Delta Rebels, he would experience “bands with record deals” for the first time.
