Wavinya is the Governor of Machakos county, following the August 9, 2022, election. He is a Kenyan professional and a businessman. Ndeti joined politics in the year 2007 contesting and being elected MP for the Kathiani Constituency under Chama Cha Uzalendo.

Before, had participated in the ODM-Kenya primaries, which she claimed were rigged in favor of incumbent legislator Peter Kyalo Kaindi, forcing her to switch to Chama Cha Uzalendo. She eventually won a landslide victory, garnering 28,178 votes against Kaindi’s 9,813.

Transport Chief Administration Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti officially resigned to fully concentrate on politics, where she was aiming to become the Governor of Machakos. Talking during a press conference at her office, Wavinya stated that she is proud of being part of the accomplishments made by the Transport Ministry, saying now it’s time for her to serve Machakos people.

“My vision is to serve the people of Machakos so that they can be able to sustainably exploit their natural and creative resources to full potential,” she said.

Her resignation comes a few days ahead of the deadline issued by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, requiring public servants pursuing elective offices in the forthcoming general elections to have resigned by Wednesday next week.

Ndeti has served in the position for a period of 2 years, after being appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2020 when he reshuffled the Cabinet. She first competed for the Machakos Governor’s seat in 2013 and 2017 where she lost to Governor Alfred Mutua.

She nevertheless rejected the results and accused Mutua of rigging, with the legal battle ending up at the Supreme Court where Mutua’s win was upheld.

Wavinya was married to Dolamu Henry Oduwole. The couple was married in 1990. Unfortunately in 2016, her beloved husband passed away. Dolamu Henry Oduwolewas the Youth and Sports Assistant Minister.

Oduwole died in 2016 at Nairobi Hospital on Sunday morning, where he had been admitted after his blood pressure shot up drastically. Wavinya’s elder brother Raphael Musyoki told the Star that Oduwole passed on while in the ICU at around 1.30 am.

“I was called by my sister at around 1 am, telling me that her husband’s condition had worsened. Upon arriving at the hospital a few minutes later, he passed on,” Musyoki said.

“He has been on and off the hospital since March. He has actually been to Matter Hospital, Nairobi Hospital, and even London. But this morning, God decided to have him rest,” he said.

He said that Oduwole’s death came as a big blow to the entire Ndeti family, as he held a big place in their lives and in their heart.

“It is a big blow not only to his wife Wavinya but also to the entire Ndeti family because to us, Oduwole was not just an in-law but a son in the family. He was very supportive on any family matter,” said Muysoki. He described the late as a very humble man who respected the young and old.
