UNN To Be Shutdown Over Death Of Student – NANS threatens

The Management of University of Nigeria,Nsukka are currently Under high Tension as the raise in death Tolls of Students increases daily,this menance is due to the lack of adequate security in the campuses.

Tension mounts at the university of Nigeria, Nsukka as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has allegedly theatened to shut down the university over the death of a student outside the university community.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased student whose identity could not be ascertained as at the time of filling this report was said to be residing at Odenigwe a nearby community to the university before his death.

An authoritative source at the university who would not want his name in print confided in Vanguard that an exco of NANS spoke to the acting chief security officer (CSO) on phone, threatening that they would come from Abuja to shut down the university over the death of a Nigerian student.

Source revealed that NANS allegedly points accusing fingers at the security department of the university to have killed the student erroneously while the deceased student was killed outside the university environment.

Our dependable source said that the deceased student was allegedly killed in a robbery operation at the community while his accomplice is currently helping special anti robbery squad (SARS) in Enugu on investigations into the incident.

Contacted for comment the acting security officer of the university Mr Romanus Nwafor confirmed the threat by NANS to shut down the university and passed vote of no confidence on the vice-chancellor of the university Prof Benjamin Ozumba. Mr.Nwafor noted that he tried to explain out things to the NANS exco but he wouldn’t listen but kept shouting that they must shut down the university without anything happening to that effect.

He pointed out that he has reported the threat to the police and the sister agencies to avert the looming danger in the university, adding that students union government (SUG) university of Nigeria Nsukka has been put on notice of the threat.

He assured that security has been beefed up in the university to check the security threat of NANS.
