UNILORIN Student Shot By Unknown Gunmen

A yet to be identified student of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara state was on Saturday (yesterday) shot by unknown gunmen believed to be cultists.

NAIJAPARY gathered that the student was shot at his K-dorms2 hostel, Oke Odo, an off-campus location of the school.

The victim was said to have been shot by some gang members trying to terrorize him.

It was learnt that the Students’ Union President, who was at the scene of the incident, vowed that the Students’ Union body would look into the issue today (Sunday).

A reliable source who spoke with NAIJAPARY correspondent but pleaded anonymity, said he was about taking tricycle when he heard the gunshot.

He said: “The incident happened not quite long. I was there. I was about taking ‘keke napep’ when I heard the gunshot. But before I realised that it was a gunshot, I was already at Jalala junction. I couldn’t wait because I was headed somewhere”.

As at the time of filing this report, the identity of the victim remains unknown.

Effort to reach the university’s spokesman proved abortive, as his line was either switched off or out of coverage.

However, it was gathered that the victim has been rushed to a nearby clinic through the intervention of the Police.

Normalcy has since returned to the students’ area.
