Two PDP Governors, Wike And Umahi Almost ‘Exchange Blows’ Over President Buhari

Two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and David Umahi of Ebonyi State, reportedly engaged in a war of words over comment on President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Nations reports that the clash occurred when Governor Wike cracked a costly joke on Governor Umahi’s alleged relationship with President Buhari.

Inspite of the rivalry between PDP and APC, Governor Umahi has made no pretence about his closeness to president Buhari, so much so that he even threatened to sack any of his aide who insults the president .

During a meeting of PDP governors and prominent party members last Saturday, Wike cracked a joke centred around Umahi’s close relationship with Buhari which provoked the Ebonyi State governor and almost resulted in fisticuffs between the two state chief executives.

The PDP governors and party members were at the meeting to celebrate with Wike who was honoured by the Ikwerre people of Rivers state.

The party members were exchanging banners in small groups when Umahi made his entrance, Wike jokingly said “Ah! Here comes Buhari’s man”

The remarks elicited laughter from the other governors, but it did not resonate well with Umahi, who angrily asked Wike, “Who is more Buhari than you? I have many of your pictures with Buhari which are not known to the public!”

Umahi then threatened to make Wike’s pictures with Buhari public if he was provoked further by his host. Was Wike rattled? Those present said he was speechless. Umahi’s outburst ended the discussion on Buhari and the meeting moved to discuss other issues.
