Tunisia’s 92-year-old President Rushed To Hospital

Tunisia’s President, Beji Caid Essebsi, has been taken to a military hospital after suffering a “severe health crisis”, the Presidency said on Thursday.

Naijaparry learned that the 92-year-old Tunisian leader “was taken seriously ill and transferred to the military hospital in Tunis”.

A major player since the country’s transition to democracy in 2011, Essebsi was hospitalised last week as well, over what the presidency described as non-serious treatment.

He has been a prominent figure in the Maghreb nation since the overthrow of Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.

Essebsi, before before 2011, served as foreign minister under state founder Habib Bourguiba and parliamentary speaker under Ben Ali.

More to come…
