Tina Turner, officially known as Anna Mae Bullock is an American-born and naturalized Swiss singer, dancer, actress, and author.

She developed a love for music at a younger age and was consistent throughout her career rising through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after singers.

Turner started her career under the stage name Little Ann and somewhere along the line rebranded as Tina Turner with the hit duet single “A Fool in Love”.

She became a household name as the lead singer of the duo; Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo act in the 1980s.

As a solo act, she released several songs including; Proud Mary, River Deep, Mountain High, I Don’t Wanna Lose You, Steamy, Windows, Private Dancer, Better Be Good To Me, Addicted To Love, and Typical Male, among others.

Turner was widely referred to as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Her soul classics and pop hits like; ‘The Best’ and ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ made her a superstar.

Having sold over 100 million records worldwide, she’s one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. At age 44, she was the oldest female solo artist to top the Hot 100.

Turner is a recipient of 12 Grammy Awards, which include eight competitive awards, three Grammy Hall of Fame awards, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

She became the first black artist and first woman to be on the cover of Rolling Stone with Rolling Stone ranking her among the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Turner has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the St. Louis Walk of Fame and was also a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors and Women of the Year award.

She has twice been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Ike Turner in 1991 and as a solo artist in 2021. Turner also acted in a number of films including; Tommy, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Sadly, the legendary Rock ‘n’ Rol singer has died. Tina Turner passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the age of 83 at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland after a long illness.
