Born on 24 January 1997, in his early years, Mokoena’s soccer talents were discovered by Charles Molefe, a teacher and soccer coach at Bodikela Junior Secondary School. His standout performances at the school level led him to secure a spot at the Harmony Sports Academy. From there, he was scouted by SuperSport United, where he progressed through the academy ranks and eventually captained the U-19 team. Stuart Baxter promoted him to the first team in 2016, and he made his professional debut in February of the following year.
