Travis Tritt, who called Cook “a great guy and one heckuva bass fisherman,” and Jason Aldean, who tweeted: “I got a chance to perform with him multiple times over the years and I will never forget it,” paid tribute.

ALABAMA’s famous guitarist and founding member Jeff Cook has passed away. His death statement reads, “Cook passed away peacefully yesterday, November 7, with his family and close friends by his side at his beach home in Destin, Florida.”
Cook was a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame, Fiddlers Hall of Fame, and Gibson’s Guitarist of the Year. He was 73. Parkinson’s illness was discovered in the multi-award-winning musician in 2012.

Jeffrey Alan Cook was born on August 27, 1949, in Fort Payne, Alabama. At the age of 13, he started playing keyboards and the lead guitar in bands. Three days after turning 14 years old, Cook obtained a broadcast license and started working as a disc jockey at a nearby Fort Payne radio station.
He was born with the broadcast bug, which subsequently led to him owning radio and television stations. Cook obtained an electronic technology degree from Gadsden State Community College in Gadsden, Alabama, after graduating from Fort Payne High School, and the American Association of Community Colleges recognized him as an “Outstanding Alumnus.”
Cook cherished the way the radio blended his two passions for music and technology. With the creation of Cook Sound Studios and his residence, “Cook Castle,” located in Fort Payne, one of Cook’s lifelong aspirations was accomplished. He might assist musicians in spreading their music by assisting them in the studio.
Bass fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, besides music.
Cook was pleased to represent Alabama as an official “Fishing Ambassador,” as declared by five governors. The electric double-neck guitar was popularized in country music by Cook. Cook is survived by his wife Lisa, his mother Betty Cook, his brother David Cook, Crystal Cook, his father-in-law Jerrial Williams, his brother-in-law Randy Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with his loving pups Blazer and Blakely.
