N-Power

Nigerians have decried the alarming level of unemployment in the country.

This came as the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development disclosed that over five million candidates have applied for the 400,000 N-Power jobs.

Twitter users said that the figure is indicative of a high rate of unemployment in the country, and therefore called on the government to do more.

HappyInternationalYouthDay

Nigerian youths have joined their counterparts in other parts of the world to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day.

Many took to social media to call for youth inclusion in governance, while urging governments at all levels to put adequate policies in place to enable youths harness their potentials for national development.

Shekau

The Boko Haram leader trended on Twitter as Nigerians expressed shock over a released audio in which he allegedly condemned the death sentence slammed on a musician by Sharia Court in Kano State.

Shekau reportedly said that there is no difference between the ‘blasphemer’ and those who sentenced him to death.

Many people who view Shekau as a mass murderer, said there is no moral justification for the statement, especially coming from someone who has no regard for human lives.

UNILAG VC

There was confusion on social media as to whether the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has been sacked or not

Some online news platforms had reported that the VC has been relieved of his appointment, but a couple of Twitter users, who described him as student-friendly, rejected the news, maintaining that Ogundipe remains the VC of UNILAG.

However, Channels TV later confirmed the sack of the VC.
