On December 30, 2015, Theodore finally made his NHL debut against the Calgary Flames. He was on a tandem with Clayton Stoner in the 1-0 win that halted the Flames’ home winning streak.
On January 13, 2016, he would play against the Ottawa Senators and score his first NHL goal, assisting the Ducks in advancing to the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Theodore’s time on the ice during their first-round game against Nashville gradually decreased as a result of mistakes, and the team ultimately lost in the first round.

But his time with the Ducks was soon coming to an end. Theodore was traded by the Ducks to the Vegas Golden Knights on June 21, 2017, during the NHL Expansion Draft, allowing the Ducks to keep seasoned defenseman Josh Manson and guarantee the Golden Knights would select Clayton Stoner.
He was initially given to the Chicago Wolves, an AHL team that is a Golden Knights affiliate, to start the 2017–18 campaign, but on October 30 he was called up to the NHL.
