Senator Ademola Adeleke Speaks After Certificate Forgery Victory
Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Osun election, Ademola Adeleke has broken his silence following his court victory today.
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming September 22 gubernatorial poll in Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reacted following his court victory on Wednesday.
Adeleke described the court’s ruling dismissing the suit challenging his eligibility for the exercise as a victory for the entire people of the state.
It would be recalled that an Osun State High court, presided over by Justice David Oladimeji had dismissed a suit filed by two members of the PDP, namely Olatunji Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwasegun Idowu Thomas, seeking an interlocutory injunction to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising Adeleke as the flag bearer of the PDP over alleged forged certificate.
Joined in the suit no HOS/19/03/2018 as defendants include Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke as the (1st), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (2nd), Chief Uche Secondus (3rd ), Soji Adagunodo (4th) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as 5th defendants
However, while reacting to the court ruling, Adeleke in a press statement signed by the director of media and publicity of his campaign organisation, Mr Olawale Rasheed described his clearance by the judiciary as victory for all the people of Osun State, irrespective of party affiliations, religious and tribal inclination.
According to the statement “following today’s court judgement confirming his eligibility to contest the governorship and ruling out any case of forgery, Senator Ademola Adeleke has appealed for peace and unity within the party, affirming that the judgement which is a victory for good people of Osun State should energise the party for resounding victory in September.”
While imploring the litigants who instituted suit and other aggrieved groups to forget the past and collaborate with his team to dislodge the All Progressives Congress (APC) during September 22 governorsh ip election Adeleke asserted that “today’s judgement is a divine window of opportunity for all members of PDP in Osun state to unite under this victory umbrella.”
He continued, “I extend hands of fellowship and brotherhood to all aggrieved party members, including those who took me court. Let us move forward.
Political contest cannot be without grievances. We, however, must act beyond personal interests to consider the burden of leadership placed on all of us. Our followers are worried; they are fed up with the bickering and mudslinging.”
“Now that all doubts have been cleared and rumours laid to rest. Let us now commence the active and arduous task of aggressive campaigning. We are all stakeholders in this victory and coming victory in September by the grace of God.”
“The suffering people of Osun state are patiently waiting on us. They know PDP is the only party that can stop the continuation of inhuman government and end the legacy of poverty. The voters eagerly and earnestly look up to us, the expectations are huge. I urge that we cannot afford to disappoint them,”
Adeleke remarked.
