Senator Abaribe appears in court with a book called ‘dirty politics’ and Igbo masterpiece with Nigerian coat of arm

Nigerian Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe who was arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services on allegations of gunrunning and aiding the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, appeared in an Abuja court this morning holding a book called ‘Dirty politics’.

The Senator representing Abia South in the red chamber, also wore an Igbo masterpiece with Nigeria’s coat of arm plastered all over which we think is to make a statement, that his allegiance is to the Nigerian government.

However addressing newsmen, Senator Abaribe’s lawyer, said the allegations above were contained in a search warrant dated June 22, 2018 , and produced by the operatives who raided the lawmaker’s home in Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja .

The Lawyer further added that the warrant directed the DSS operatives to “ focus and search for arms and ammunition and any other incriminating document , while the alleged crime was aiding and supporting a proscribed body i .e. IPOB.

“Of all the 27 items seized and taken away , none could be all they wanted to see in terms of arms and ammunition or stored bags of ‘ Ghana Must Go ’ for sponsoring the said IPOB. Unfortunately two of the 27 items include the two handsets of two USA citizens found in the home. One of the laptops taken included that of an educationist containing examination questions slated to be set for students on June 25, 2018. All pleas for these questions to be copied were refused.”

We reported some days ago that the Department of State Services, DSS, arrested Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, an outspoken critic of the Buhari administration without disclosing reasons for his arrest.

The arrest got the condemnation of Igbo Igbo Renaissance Forum, who described it as a barbaric act and highly embarrassing. The group said the DSS Gestapo style arrest of Senator Abaribe, was indicative of sad reality that Nigeria was faced with a very real threat of suffocating the democratic process and the rude rape of the rule of law.
