Senate President, Saraki Reacts To The Crisis Between Adeleke, Ogunbiyi
Bukola Saraki , the Senate President, who was selected as the Chairman to over see the Osun state election on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party, has come into the crisis between the party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, and Akin Ogunbiyi .
The Osun State governorship election is expected to hold in the state on September 22.
The party of Adeleke and that of Ogunbiyi have been exchanging words since the primary for the governorship was won by Adeleke.
Ogunbiyi, who came second in the party’s primary, had refused to concede victory to Adeleke.
At a peaceful meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Saraki made the two men to sign an agreement to work together for the succes of the party in the election.
Saraki, while speaking with journalists after the meeting, stated that the reconciliation was important for the party, and the leaders in Osun state are now united ahead of the election in the state.
He said with the coming together of the two men, the party was poised to win the election.
He said, “What just happened is the signing of an agreement between not just the two aspirants of the Osun governorship primaries of the PDP, but between all the PDP stakeholders in Osun State especially between two Osun PDP aspirants, who a lot of people think cannot come together.
“Today, what you are seeing is the unity of the PDP in Osun state. The two aspirants who contested in an intensive primary are now together finally so that we will be able to present a united party for the forthcoming election.
“We are very happy with what we have seen today; the credit goes to two of them, Senator Ademola Adeleke and more particularly Dr Ogunbiyi said, “For us, the PDP victory is assured and by the grace of God, we are going to win the gubernatorial election.
“We thank the leadership of the PDP, especially the Senate President, Chairman of our National Campaign Committee and all our party leaders to have organised this.
“The electorate are waiting for us; I believe that they want us and this is what they have been waiting for. This is because, after the primary election, there should be reconciliation.”
“We believe Osun must be taken, for us to be able to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress come 2019.
“And we are going to work together for the party’s victory in the governorship election. ”
