See What Happen To Man Who Stole Lawmaker’s Phone
Sunday Omoye-a 23-year-old man who stole the Tecno phone of Honorable Solomon Ademisoye while he was heavily drunk at night has been sentenced to two-year imprisonment with an option for a fine after admitting before the court.
According to the nationalhelm, the incident happened at Oke- Afa bridge along Ejigbo/Ikotun Road in Isolo, Lagos.
The Ondo State-born Omoye pleaded guilty before Ejigbo Magistrates court after he was arrested and arraigned before the court for conspiracy and stealing.
Two other suspects, Ibrahim Karim and Abby Ojenyi were arraigned with Omoye, they pleaded not guilty and were granted bail but remanded in prison custody.
The convicted Omoye stated before the court that Hon. Ademisoye was returning in the night, hit a motorcycle operator and damaged his vehicle in the process. He said that when he got there, he discovered that he was heavily drunk, he assisted to remove his vehicle from the road and stole his phone.However, he said that the two suspects Karim and Ojenyi went where he kept the Tecno phone worth about N150,000, stole it and he did not see the phone in order to return to the owner.
According to Police, Ademisoye returned in the morning, met Omoye and demanded for his phone. Omoye admitted that he stole the phone and went where he kept only to discover that the phone has been stolen. He then mentioned the two suspects behind the theft. They were all arrested and charged to court.
Omoye was jailed after the prosecutor, Supol Keneth Asibor presented the facts of the matter and asked the court to sentence him accordingly.
While the court presided by Mr. T.O. Shomade granted bail to the two other suspects in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum, Omoye was sentenced to two years in prison. The matter was adjourned till 21 May, 2018. However the court ruled that the two count charge will run concurrently which means that Omoye will be only spending 12 months in prison.
