See How Many Strokes of Cane This Man Received for Divorcing His Wife

A man in Kaduna was ordered to be beaten by the Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari for violating the Sharia Law on divorce.

According to NAN, The judge, Mallam Dahiru Lawal, ordered that Idris Sai’du should be given five strokes of the cane and that he should pay a fine of N5,000 for abandoning his wife, Hauwa Abdullah over a long period of time.

Hauwa Abdullah had earlier told the court that her husband sent her packing from their matrimonial home since last year and had refused to check on her since then.

She said: “He asked me to leave his house since last year Ramadan, saying I should pack all my belongings and leave. It is almost a year now and he has never checked on me.”

Hauwa Abdullah added that she wants the court to divorce them as she could not stay with a man that doesn’t care for her.

She said: “I want this honourable court to compel my husband to divorce, me as he is no longer interested in me.”

The husband responded to the allegations as he claims she was still communicating with her ex-husband. Sai’du said: “I, therefore, divorce my wife three times.”
