Who was Roger Sexton?

Roger Sexton, a Survivor contestant, died at the age of 76 following a protracted battle with dementia.

He was born on September 26, 1946, in Oakland, California, and joined the Marines not long after graduating from high school.

The retired Marine was a California native and Vietnam War veteran. After finishing his service, he married his wife, attended college, and then pursued a lucrative career in construction estimation.

After the Vietnam War

After serving in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1967, he returned to the Bay Area, completed his education, and subsequently rose the ranks with general contractor Tutor Perini Construction to become an executive.

The ex-marine participated in the sixth season of the wildly famous reality series, which was recorded in Brazil near the Amazon River, in 2002.

Cating in Survivor Program

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sexton, 56, joined the cast of “Survivor: The Amazon” for Season 6 in 2003, which was very impressive considering his fellow cast members were much younger.

But the native Californian was keen to show that he could compete with anyone.

When he appeared on the CBS show in 2002, he was the team leader.

10th Place

Roger endured 21 days on the popular Survivor show and placed tenth overall out of 16 competitors.

After he had prohibited women from helping to build the team’s shelter, he was ultimately elected to go by his other competitors.

7th Elimination

In Survivor Season 6, where the contestants were divided into two teams of just men and just women, Sexton made an appearance. He rose to prominence in his Tambaqui tribe but finally fell out with the younger males and females of the merging tribe.

Sexton was the first person eliminated during the merge because the ladies successfully prepared to blindside him after realizing he would probably never vote for a woman to win the game. He was the seventh season elimination.

Interview with CBS

In a pre-game interview with CBS, he asserted, “I’m very physically capable.” Quite frankly, I think I can outperform these young macho guys, Sexton said. “I’m very intense, very competitive, and at the same time I’m a very emotional guy.”

“Survivor” deaths

Hundreds of castaways have participated in “Survivor” since its launch in 2000. The reality TV program from CBS has seen many injuries, but no one has ever passed away while being filmed. Sadly, several ex-players have died since they left the island.

We pause to remember everyone we’ve lost over the years in the “Survivor” dead photo gallery up top, most notably Roger Sexton, Clay Jordan, Ralph Kiser, and Sunday Burquest. In our hearts, their lights will always be alight.
