Ricky Bibey Death Cause: The former rugby league player Ricky Bibey has been named by Italian media as the 40-year-old Briton found dead in a Florence hotel on Saturday.

The man was found by hotel staff alongside a seriously injured 43-year-old woman, thought to be his partner.

Bibey was a professional rugby league player for more than a decade until he retired in 2012 due to an Achilles tendon injury.

He is reported to have worked as an estate agent in the years following his retirement.

Ricky was found dead in his hotel room at around 8:00 A.M local time on Saturday, July 16th. According to police source, the cause of his death may have been an “erotic game that went wrong”.

He further added, “There is blood in the room and the forensic teams are working there at the moment while the woman has been taken to hospital for treatment. Her current condition is serious but she is stable and her injuries are not life-threatening. We hope to question her at some point in the next few hours”.

The woman who was found alongside Ricky Bibey at the Continentale hotel room in Florence is identified to be Jennie Platt and is believed to be Bibey’s partner and the couple reportedly also worked together. The two were not married
