REVEALED: Jada Pinkett Smith Never Wanted To Marry Will Smith

Social media users have dug up an 2018 episode from Jada Pinkett Smith’s online talk show, Red Table Talk, where she admitted that she never wanted to marry Will Smith.

She admitted to “crying down the freaking aisle” before tying the knot in 1997. Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, forced her and Smith to wed after she became pregnant with their first son, Jaden, now 23, Jada reveals.

“I really didn’t wanna get married. It was almost as if Gammy (Jada’s mother) was like, ‘You have to get married, so let’s talk about the wedding,’”said Pinkett Smith

Banfield-Norris then confessed: “I remember feeling very strongly and wanting you guys to be married. I do remember [wanting you and Will to get married] but I don’t remember your rejection of the idea of marriage. I remember the rejection of the idea of a wedding but not of a marriage. The wedding was horrible. It was a mess. Jada was sick, she was very unpleasant … She didn’t cooperate with anything.”

Pinkett Smith, while laughing, agreed to this, admitting that she was so against a wedding and the whole experience made her angry: “And I was so upset that I had to have a wedding. I was so pissed I went crying down the freaking aisle. I cried the whole way down the aisle.”

Will Smith, on the other hand, had a different feeling about the whole wedding experience, as it was always his dream, reported New York Post.

He reacted during the episode, which also featured their daughter Willow: “There wasn’t a day in my life that I wanted anything other than being married and having a family. From literally 5 years old, I was picturing what my family would be.”

The resurfacing videos come at the heels of Will Smith being banned by the Oscars for 10 years after he walked on stage during the award ceremony on 27 March and slapped comedian Chris Rock for joking about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.
