Presidential Election Tribunal: Atiku’s Running Mate Tells Nigerians What To Do
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2019 elections, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to be hopeful as the party challenges the outcome of the election.
Speaking at the 8th Stakeholders Meeting of the Anambra Chapter of PDP in Awka on Saturday, the former governor of the state said the party was the solution to Nigeria’s political and economic challenges.
He also said the party had a good case at the ongoing tribunal.
The country’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had announced President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner with 15,191,847 votes with Atiku getting 11, 262,978.
But Atiku and the PDP, this news medium understands, claimed that results from a purported INEC server showed that he scored 18,356,732 as against Buhari’s 16,741,430 votes.
However, INEC said it did not transmit results electronically.
“Election in Nigeria is not easy. After the election, you have to still go to court and queue up, and that is where real money is spent in hiring lawyers, but I must assure you that all hope is not lost, and we are progressing steadily,” Obi said.
“The man who is there now has contested for four times before he made it, and we are also confident that in no time, the right thing will be done.
“Nigerians are already disenchanted, so that has made PDP a brand today and marked her out as the only party that can deliver Nigeria.”
The PDP and Atiku on Friday closed their case at the tribunal following the conclusion of the testimony of their star and last witness Osita Chidoka, a former minister.
