PhotoSpeaks: #FYB- When Poly Ede 2019 Estate Mgt Graduates Signed Out in Grand Style
Second semesters are seasons of hope. Months of anticipation. Of Progress. Of Faith. Of Stock taking. These are times when it becomes clear that by the end of the calendar, you’d have moved from one level to another. For many students, especially of the Poly Ede strata, these are times they’d be counting weeks to leave Ede town.
No thanks to the incessant internal ASUP strike, the 2019 graduating class of Edepoly are bowing out a year behind schedule. They had hoped to drop everything that reminded them of undergraduate days at Fedepe (as the institution is fondly called), they were dealt sad blows of internal administrative bureaucracies called ASUP Strikes. They were forced to go on a compulsory almost 3-months-old break and were all joys and laughter when they were finally called back on campus.
This weekend, they rounded off their exams and in accordance with the unwritten ‘law’ that states that ”all final year students shall, on their last examination day, wear customized shirts of different colours and sizes to depict their experience on campus”, the Estate Managements students were not left out.
Under the aegis of Estate Management Students Association (EMSA), the final year students decked in red, purple and white T-shirts, had the inscription ‘Hassle worth tassel; No more Exeat; We made it‘. The Tshirt further has the names of all the graduating students.
Their journey had not been without its squabbles. Many had stories to tell. Stories of hunger. Of endless assignments and group productions. Of laughter. Of pains. Of personal struggles. Of endless nights of readings and projects. Ask them, they’ll tell you.
As they dropped their pens after the final paper, they all rushed out to begin another examination- but this time, without pens and writing pads. It was the test to see who’d outdo the other in dance styles. Who’d capture the most memories. Whose phone had better mega pixels to bring out the best images. It was a test to see who’d shed the most tears. Who’d danced ad wriggle and slant. Who’d entertain the rest with the best breaking moves. But this time around, there was no examiner. They all would score themselves by relieving their almost 5-year sojourn in the town of Ede.
They were full of thanks as the atmosphere was electrifying. Phones continued to click and click away, capturing memories that would last a life time… Some of the pictures would become memes on social media. The world had to stand still. Fed Poly Ede students were graduating!
Naijaparry wishes all the graduating students a very successful celebration. Ride on, the sky is just the starting point!
Here are some of the pictures of the day as captured by Olawale Bisola, Ogunlowo Emmanuel, Ojo Kanyinsola, Hamzat Babatunde, and Alamu Tosin .
