Paddy Hopkirk Death Cause: Patrick Barron Hopkirk MBE was a rally driver from Northern Ireland. He was born on the 14th of April, 1933 in Belfast. He was educated at the Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare from the year 1945 to the year 1949. He moved on to attend Trinity College in Dublin until the year 1953 when he studied engineering.

He was however held back by dyslexia which halted his academic ascent. Paddy was raised as a catholic and learned the basics of car control at age nine. A local clergyman left him his carriage in his will.

Paddy acquired an Austin 7 “Chummy” Tourer which he used to make his debut in the rally. Hopkirk was appointed MBE in the year 2016 in the New Year Honours list. He became the ambassador for the IAM RoadSmart Mature Drivers in the year 2016.

Paddy Hopkirk passed away on the 21st of July, 2022. He was 89 years old at the time. He had no terminal medical condition at the time of his death.
