Osun College In Disarray As Mgt. Connive With Police To Arrest And Molest 35 Students
No fewer than 35 students of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa in Osun state were allegedly arrested this morning on 3rd June, 2019 at the main gate of the institution.
Naijaparry reports that some students of this college protested on Tuesday, May 28th 2019 over the death of four students of this college and in a letter signed by the Public Relation Officer of the college, Ojolo Olusegun stated that management have resolved that students should go on mid-semester break as a result of the protest.
A reliable source who prefers to remain anonymous within the college confirmed the arrest of these students and the management of the college connived with the Divisional Police Officer, Ayeso Police Station, Ilesa to arrest, molest and intimidate innocent students at the main gate of the college.
Police brought nine (9) vehicles to the college and commenced the arrest, molestation and dumping of students into these vehicles and transported them to Osogbo. Some of these students were beaten and harassed by police officers.
They arrested close to 35 students of the college while former student leaders of the college were harassed and arrested too. The speaker of the Students’ Union Government, Comrade Valentino was arrested, Former SUG President of the college, Comrade Alalade Felix was also arrested and Com. Awowole Samuel (AWOSAM), student leader, Former NANS Chairman, Osun state axis and many students leaders of the college, our source told our reporter.
A 300 level student of Biology Education of this college who spoke with our reporter also confirmed this incident and stated that there is still ongoing mass arrest within the college and environments.
“On May 28th, 2019, students came out enmasse to protest undemocratic styles of running the college by Prof. Kola Kazeem led management and other demands of the protesting students are; Abolition of new fee increament . The students also frown at fee like ICT, Entrepreneurship, medical, NHIS and others because management didn’t provide expected services.
Most of these innocent students arrested were in the college for different purpose apart from academics but they were molested and had been transferred to an unknown location.
All possible efforts to reach the PRO of the college, Dean of the college and officials of NANS at zone and axis levels but they were not reachable as at the time of writing this news story.
