Osun 2018 Election: We’ll Go After Vote Buyers – Police

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) of Nigeria, Mr Abayo Sogunie has said the police will arrest anyone who goes to polling unit with money on election day.

Addressing journalist on Tuesday in Osogbo, Mr Sogunie said vote buying will not occur in Osun stressing that the police intelligence unit are working with Independent national electoral commission (INEC) to deal with anyone who try to lured voters with money on election day.

Speaking further, he said the Nigerian police Force will ensured there is level clean ground for everybody and also protect the vote, materials and ensured there is no violence before, during and after the election.

He said ” The Nigerian Police is not supporting any political parties, it is left for the People of Osun to choose who will be their governor. The force will ensure that there is level clean ground for everybody to protect the vote, materials and ensured that there is no violence before, during and after the election.

The PCRRU also said the force recovered a total sum of 1.1million bribe from its officers across the country and that 10 officers were dismissed base on bribery and other unprofessional conducts.

He boosted that the command will deal with any police officer who is alleged of complicity regarding the conducts of the election.

Mr Sogunie also enjoyed residents and citizens of Osun to come out in masses and cast their vote to who ever they want as their next governor assuring peaceful election in the state.
