Osun 2018 Election: REC confirms arrest of alleged vote-buyer with N600,000

The Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner , Mr . Olusegun Agbaje, has confirmed that a suspected vote- buyer was arrested in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun during the ongoing governorship election .

He stated that the suspected was arrested with about N 600, 000 and had been handed over to the police.

In an interview with our correspondent, he also stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission had repeatedly cautioned people against vote -buying .

Agbaje said , “ At Iwo , we got a report that security agencies arrested someone with about N 600, 000 cash near their polling unit . It was earlier this morning. The person was arrested and he is already with the police.

“ I would not know the party he belongs . We are not interested in any party, we are interested that somebody came there , that is why the police are investigating . The person is already with the police.

“ We said it that people should not bring money near a polling station. Anybody that does that , would be arrested. ”
