Oshiomhole Vs Obaseki: What Presidency Said About Edo Crisis

The Presidency has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is capable of handling the feud between the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

Naijaparry had reported that suspected thugs attacked the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu; the Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and some dignitaries who were in Obaseki’s convoy on Saturday in Benin.

They were at Oshiomole’s Iyamho residence on invitation by the APC leader after they attended the convocation of the Edo University at Iyamho.

The thugs who pelted the convoy with stone gathered at Oshiomhole’s house and vowed that Obaseki and his Deputy would not be allowed to enter.

They smashed several vehicles with no one, however, injured in the attack which took the efforts of security agencies to forestall.

While Oshiomhole blamed the state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, for the attack, the later denied involvement in the attack.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Simon Ebegbulem, Oshiomhole claimed that he left the convocation lecture on Thursday via the back door to avoid being attacked by the thugs who laid siege at the entrance gate of the university.

The governor also said he would always go for a peaceful resolution of disagreements in the party, describing the incident as unfortunate.

Reacting to the incident, the President’s media aide, Garba Shehu, on Sunday noted that the president said: “Let them go and talk to the party.”

Shehu declined further comments on whether it was necessary for President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the crisis.

However, a Presidency said that the president would not be personally involved in everything as there were organs responsible for performing certain duties.
