#OAU5: Release Our Comrades Now Or … – NANS Threatens OAU Management
You all will recall that the leadership of NANS Zone D met with relevant authorities and concern stakeholders aftermath of the arrest and incarceration of the OAU five.
As pragmatic and grounded union leaders, we decided against immediately storming the streets or shutting down OAU to give room for consultations and negotiations which culminated in our various appeals to the management of OAU and concerned parties to see to the release of our comrades, but all our efforts came to nulity. We have since issued an ultimatum which expires this midnight Tuesday March 27th 2018.
The NANS Zone D leadership therefore uses this medium to appeal once again to the OAU management as well as concerned stakeholders to see to the release of our detained comrades immediately failure of which we shall moved the NANS Zone D Secretariat to OAU.
In the same vein, we also want to use this as a clarion call to all the students in and outside the Zone, JCC structures, ideological and human rights organizations on campuses and outside the campuses to prepare for a mother of all mass action against the OAU management on Wednesday 28th March if our comrades are not released by end of today.
We hope that the OAU management will not test our resolve in seeing to the freedom of our comrades. We maintain that the arrest and detention of the OAU students is like killing a fly with a sledgehammer, we all shall therefore resist this unjust act through every means necessary.
We want to end this by quoting Abraham Lincoln that “those who deny freedom to others deserve it not to themselves”
Amangla!!!
