Nigeria’s Commercial Center Lagos State Loses Former Governor

The Lagos State first military governor Brig.Gen. Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson is dead, according to a statement by his son Deji.

Naijaparry understands that Mobolaji Johnson died on Wednesday night. He was born on February 9, 1936.

He was appointed as the military Administrator by the military Head of State Major Gen. Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi and later on as the governor of Lagos State by his successor Gen. Yakubu Gowon.

Mobolaji was the Lagos governor between 1966 and 1975 when he was compulsorily retired by former Head of State Gen. Murtala Mohammed.

He retired from Nigerian Army in 1975 and went into private business, becoming a director with the construction giant Julius Berger.
