Nigerians: You Cannot Die And Rest In Peace By Adejumo Kabir
It is no longer news that in Nigeria where I live, you cannot die and rest in peace. Why? The Federal Government may need your service even as cadaver.
I need not to remind any sane citizen of Federal Government recent appointments. However, John Chapter 14 verse 2 says: “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” Why is Federal Government forcing them back then? Also, Quran 10:56 says: “He (Allah) gives life and causes death. And to Him, you will be returned”. Why is Federal Government competing the return of the dead with God?
Nigeria is moving in reverse. Not thinking about the future. We have lost it, the executive arm has failed us, the legislative arm is filled with comedians who can sing “aje kun ya ni o je” better than the original singer and we run an unproductive judiciary where the only thing they perfect is irregularities or who hasn’t heard of Justice Ademola’s case.
From the presidency appointment, we all can witness the disintegrating frameworks and falling apart essential human advancement. The only time I feel disappointed as a Nigerian is when we get things right. I don’t get disappointed when things do not work well, it is our way. After all, some groups went ahead to organise prayer for quick recovery of Yusuf Buhari, who had accident some weeks ago. Where were these people when Chibok girls were kidnapped, where were these groups when people were attacked in several states of the country. It is nothing but hypocrisy.
Instead of the presidency to think about their flaws, they begin the campaign for 2019. I’m sure they must have compiled the list of their appointees after emergence in 2019. I can bet it that we will have another deed people appointed since the presidency find pleasure in ghost workers.
Have we gone ‘mad’ again? Is the presidency not right? I think President Muhammadu Buhari appointments were right. Yes, the appointment of dead people as chairmen and members of board. How? Those alive in his cabinet have even caused more headache. The dead may see it as privileged to be back to/on duty. We may need to do analysis of these living creatures as I avoid mentoring names.
Is the dead not better than he who embarrassed the President and the country with the news that rodents threatened the president to vacate his office for over two months? Alas, the president ran for his life. What about the 60 minutes documentary? The other side of Buhari where even the actual side was not seen.
We need more dead men to take the positions of the living. Death be not proud, cadavers are now optimistic in Buhari administration.
