The Federal Government has assured Nigerian workers that it is committed to uplifting the lives and leaving behind a legacy of service and a buoyant economy. Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige , disclosed this in a message to workers to commemorate the 2019 Workers’ Day celebration in Abuja on Tuesday. Ngige said it was due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to better the lives of Nigerian workers that he gave states bailout to pay salary and pension of their workers.
2. Buhari To Get N8.92 Trillion Approved 2019 Budget Thursday
The National Assembly would transmit the approved 2019 Budget of N8.92trn to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday. Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Mustapha Dawaki, made this known while briefing newsmen after plenary in Abuja. Dawaki explained that the increase in total budget from N8.83trn was due to the inclusion of funds for “special interventions’’ made by the National Assembly.
3. House Of Reps Passes N8.916 Trillion Budget For 2019 (See Breakdown)
Nigeria’s House of Representatives Tuesday passed a sum of N8,916,964,099,373 appropriation bill for the year 2019. A breakdown of the 2019 budget shows that N502,058,892,965 is for Statutory Transfers; N2,254,014,113,092 is for Debt Servicing; N4,055,940,383,684 is for Recurrent Expenditure; and N2,094,950,709,632 is for Capital Expenditure. NAIJAPARRY understands that the budget covers N10 billion Special Intervention Fund meant for re- building Zamfara state, in the aftermath of bandits attacks.
4. Buhari Govt Secures Release Of Nigerian Detained In Saudi Arabia
The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has secured the release of Zainab Aliyu who was arrested in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking. NAIJAPARRY understands that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this known at a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
5. Senate Finally Passes 2019 Budget, Makes Increase
The Nigerian Senate has passed a sum of N8.916 trillion as the budget for the 2019 fiscal year as against the N8.83 trillion proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari. NAIJAPARRY reports that the new budget figure was passed after Danjuma Goje, chairman senate committee on appropriations, presented a report on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday.
6. Senate Summons Police IG Over Insecurity
The acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu , has been summoned by the Senate to appear before it on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, announced this during plenary on Tuesday. Senator Saraki made the announcement after Senator Ubali Shitu (Jigawa North-East) moved for the approval of votes and proceedings.

The Senate on Tuesday queried the recent appointment of Brig-Gen Sani Ibrahimas the new Director-General for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The upper legislature asked its Committee on Sports and Youth Development to investigate whether the recent appointment by the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai , was in order.
8. Eight Injured As Another Building Collapses In Ibadan
Eight persons have been injured in a two-storey building under construction that collapsed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday. NAIJAPARRY gathered that the building located on Eleyele road in Jericho area of Ibadan collapsed around 4pm.
