Nigerian Idol Season 8: Winner To Get N100m Prize As Reality Show Begins April 23

MultiChoice has announced that Nigerian Idol season 8 will begin on April 23, 2023.

In a media briefing on Tuesday in Lagos, Busola Tejumola, head of content and West Africa channels, said the music reality show will run for nine weeks.

Tejumola said the purpose of the show is to continue to harness the musical talents in Nigeria.

“Nigerian Idol will continue to offer talented artistes a platform to show the continent what they can do and the opportunity to rise to fame through hard work and dedication,” she said.

“The platform is created to help contestants thrive.

“It is the right space to gain access to mentorship through the judges and couches who will expose the intricacies of the industry to the young talents.

“We invite all to join us in this journey of self-discovery.”

Tejumola said this season’s winner will go home with the “N100 million grand prize, including N30 million as cash.”

She added that the show will be televised across three Africa Magic channels — Urban; Showcase; Family, and a pop-up channel.

The content head said D’banj, Simi, and Obi Osika, the music producer, will act as judges for this season.

“So we have Obi who has an ear for music. We have Simi, a songwriter and a performing artiste. And we also have the ‘Kokomaster D’banj, an artiste and entertainer,” she added.

“So it was important for us to consolidate on last year. We are just waiting for them this season to get the best.”
