Naira Scarcity: Frustrated Man Protests At Bank, Comes With Bed And Cooking Gas To Withdraw New Notes (Video)
Pushed to the wall by the cash scarcity, a Nigerian man has protested in form of a stay-in, arriving at the bank premises with a mattress and a canister of cooking gas to wait on the new naira.
In a video shared online, the man was seen among other Nigerians queuing for their turn to use the ATM at an undisclosed bank.
He was videoed in an oversized suit with a mattress, cooking gas and a pot as he vented his frustration.
The man was painfully expressive; he has been helpless for days owing to the unavailability of cash and the presence of long queues.
Long queues at bank Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and the rush for naira notes surfaced in late January following the deadline for the use of old N200, N500 and N1000 notes.
The issue has escalated as many ATMs either do not dispense cash or when they do, they limit the amount of money that can be withdrawn by customers.
The video has elicited reactions from social media users who have seen the clip.
