On June 10, 2020, Woodberry was arrested in Dubai alongside his partner-in-crime, Ramon Hushpuppi Abbas.
The duo were extradited to the United States to face charges of wire fraud.
They reportedly tricked an unnamed Chicago company to send them wire transfers totalling $15.2 million. Companies based in Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New York and California also were victims of the fraud, prosecutors say.
In April 2023, Mr Woodberry pleaded guilty to the charges in a plea deal with prosecutors.
