Mohammed Hayatu-Deen started his career in principal investments and project finance at Northern Nigeria Development Corporation (later renamed New Nigeria Development Corporation), Nigeria’s largest industrial holding company with investments in a number of industries at the time.
He swiftly rose to the position of Group Chief Executive, where he was in charge of the group’s 140 subsidiary and affiliate companies, as well as their leadership, direction, and control.
He was then named president and CEO of FSB International Bank, which had previously been the inactive Federal Savings Bank, with the task of turning the bank around and transforming it into a viable commercial bank.
Hayatu-Deen was able to transform FSB into a prominent commercial bank in Nigeria, making it the country’s best example of turnaround management and privatization.
