From 2014 to 2017, Gesicki attended Pennsylvania State University to play collegiate football. In the final three games of the 2016 season for the Nittany Lions, Gesicki scored a receiving touchdown in each.

Against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 of the 2020 season, Gesicki ended with eight receptions for 130 yards and his first-ever touchdown.

The Dolphins lost the game 28–31, but it was the first time in his NFL career that he had 100+ receiving yards in a single game. He caught five passes for 65 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the 33–27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14.

Gesicki finished with 53 receptions for 706 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns in the 2020 campaign. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 of the 2021 season, Gesicki recorded eight receptions for 115 receiving yards.

Gesicki had 73 receptions for 780 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in the 2021 campaign. The Dolphins gave Gesicki the franchise tag on March 8, 2022.

Gesicki scored two receiving touchdowns in the sixth week of the 2022 NFL season against the Minnesota Vikings. He concluded the 2022 season with 17 games played, one start, and 32 receptions for 362 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. He got a receiving touchdown in the 34–31 defeat to the Bills in the Wild Card Round.
