Marvin Big Brother 24: July 5 was an eventful time to be a Big Brother fan. That afternoon, after much anticipation, the cast of 16 new houseguest was announced to the public. But the announcements weren’t done then, as it was revealed later that night that one of them would not be entering the house, replaced with a new name and face.

Here’s everything you need to know about why chemical processing engineer Marvin Achi was removed from the Big Brother 24 cast, who his replacement was, and more.

Who Is Marvin Big Brother 24

According to his bio released with CBS along with the initial cast, Marvin Achi is a 28-year-old chemical processing engineer. He was initially born in Rivers State, Nigeria, but currently resides in Houston, Texas.

In his preseason interview with Parade.com, Marvin highlighted his physical abilities. He thought the other houseguests may perceive him to be cocky due to his physique, and he feared people may dislike him because of that. But he also said he would be willing to flip the house if it meant favoring his game.

Marvin Big Brother 24 Replaced

At 10:00 p.m. ET on July 5, only seven hours after the cast was announced, the official Big Brother social media account announced that Marvin would no longer be a houseguest.

Naturally, Marvin’s shocking replacement spawned a rampant amount of speculation from Big Brother fans across the internet. Though CBS and Marvin have made no official announcement as to the reason why he was removed, there are a couple of things we can speculate about.

Quite simply, Marvin could have tested positive for COVID-19, which would have automatically eliminated him from the running with less than 24 hours before the live premiere and move-in. There is precedent with this, dating back to only last year. Dancer Christie Valdiserri was initially announced to be in the cast for Big Brother 23, only to be removed several days later. She was replaced by A.I. engineer Claire Rehfuss. In a video taken after leaving sequester, Christie explained that she has tested positive for COVID.

However, the real answer may be more dramatic. Shortly after the announcement of Marvin in the cast, the Big Brother fanbase saw that he had just appeared in the current season of America’s Got Talent. In his act, he showed off his abs-based skills, specifically around making them clap. The judges were puzzled by the talent, but decided to let him through to the next round.

All of the non-live episodes of America’s Got Talent are taped months in advance, perhaps indicating that Marvin was not long for his time on the show. However, as a participant in AGT, he would still technically be under contract with NBC. If CBS was unaware of this, that would definitely be a breach of his contract with the eye network, and prompt removal.
