Manchester United Call Off Sofyan Amrabat’s Permanent Transfer

Manchester United have decided not to make midfielder Sofyan Amrabat’s loan deal permanent following a lacklustre spell at the club, according to Football Insider.

The Morocco international, who joined on loan from Fiorentina for £8.5 million, will return to his parent club at the end of this season.

Amrabat, who gained significant attention after his impressive performances for Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, joined Man United last summer.

However, his time at Old Trafford was marred by an initial injury, limiting his early contributions.

When he did return, an injury crisis forced him into an unfamiliar left-back role, where he struggled to make an impact.

Throughout the season, the 27-year-old made only 20 league appearances with just nine starts, failing to secure a regular spot in manager Erik ten Hag’s lineup.

Despite a brief improvement in form, Amrabat did not do enough to convince the Red Devils to trigger the £21.4 million purchase option.

As Amrabat heads back to Fiorentina, Man United will now look to address their midfield needs, especially with Casemiro’s struggles, making their next midfield signing a crucial one.
