Man Arrested For Throwing Rival From Lagos Bridge During Public Fight

A 32-year old man, Emmanuel Obi has landed in trouble after he engaged his rival, Ifeanyi Nwafor in a public fight and threw him from the top of a bridge to the ground in Lagos.

The incident happened on top of Obalende bridge in Lagos Island where the suspect reportedly carried the victim and threw him down.

Though the victim did not die but he was seriously injured and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where the doctors were battling to save his life.

It was gathered that when Obi realised what he had done thinking that the victim had died, he attempted to escape.

However, those present held him and asked him to go and carry the corpse since it was what he had wanted. He was later handed over to the police who detained him at the police station.

What made Obi to have attempted such was not disclosed by the police who also alleged that Obi had hit the victim with a motor jack before trying to throw him off the bridge.

The suspect was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence. The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi informed the court that the victim was still at the hospital receiving treatment over the assault.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule Amzat granted Obi bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 5 July, 2018.
