Man allegedly stabs colleague to death with screw driver

A 23- year -old man , Umar Faruq, was remanded in Ikoyi Prisons in Lagos on Friday for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death .

Chief Magistrate , Mrs . A . O . Adegite of the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court , ordered the remand of Faruq in prison , pending the outcome of an advice sought from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Faruq, who gave no fixed address, faces a charge of murder.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the plea of the accused was not taken after the charge was read to him .

The Prosecutor , Inspector Oladele Adebayo , had told the court that the offence was committed on April 10 at about 11. 10 pm at Alaba Rago in Ojo , near Lagos .

He said that the accused stabbed one Adam Aliu with a screwdriver in his forehead leading to Aliu’ s death .

The offence contravenes Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State , 2015.

Adegbite adjourned the matter until May 29 for a mention.
