Coach Lee Tingle passed away from a rare brain disease at the age of 52, Some heavy news out of Pascagoula over the weekend.
Who was Lee Tingle?
Tingle was born and raised in Pascagoula and is survived by his wife, RCS teacher Melissa Tingle, and his three children, Taylor, Ty, and Trace as well as a grandchild, Joseph.
Tingle, who spent more than ten years coaching the resurrection Catholic baseball team and helped the Eagles win the 1A State Championship this year, devoted a significant portion of his life to the Pascagoula community through youth sports.
Before joining RCS, Tingle served as the leader of the baseball and soccer teams in Pascagoula. In addition, Tingle ran Physical Therapy Professionals, where he treated young athletes injured in sports all along the Coast.
Lee Tingle Coach Career
The following are some of his coaching accomplishments: organizing the RCS middle school baseball startup program in 2013, leading the RCS middle school Eastern Division Conference Co-Championship team in 2014, leading the RCS high school baseball team to the South State Series in 2017, winning the South State Championship in 2021 and 2022, and becoming the 1A State Champion in 2022.
In 2017 and 2022, he was chosen to lead the East Team in the South Mississippi All-Star Classic.
Pascagoula Community Raises Funds
PASCAGOULA, To help longtime coach Lee Tingle, who is suffering from a rare neurological brain condition, the Pascagoula neighborhood organized a cook-off on Sunday. To show their support for Tingle, people gathered at Resurrection Catholic Elementary School.
Max Askew, one of Tingle’s teammates, remarked “He brings a lot of energy to practice.” He won’t ever show you when he’s having a rough day. He never stops grinning.
300 plates of food, including pulled pork platters and smoked hams, were pre-sold by volunteers. Adam Askew stated, “We pre-sold the plates; we’ve been working on this for approximately three months.
I’m just trying to repay him in some small way for all that he has done for us and our family in this town, you know. We’re merely attempting to repay Lee. There were baseball players, administrators, and people who knew the Tingle family.
Jack Schnoor, a baseball player for Resurrection, stated, “I believe that simply shows the impact he had on people. “He does his best to assist everyone. I have no doubt that he is concerned about everyone.
