Lawmaker suspended for sleeping too much at plenary sessions
In a bizarre turn of events, a lawmaker has been suspended for sleeping too much at a plenary session.
The Ekiti State House of Assembly has suspended its Chief Whip, Sunday Akinniyi, for allegedly too much sleeping at plenary sessions.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, House Committee on information, Dr. Samuel Omotosho, yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, said the Ekiti State House of Assembly suspended Akinniyi over series of allegations leveled against him among which is his sleeping habit.
Omotosho said that the decision to suspend Hon.Akinniyi followed by a thorough investigation carried out by Ayodele Fajemilehin led committee of the Assembly.
He said the suspended honourable member was accused few weeks ago for his persistent sleeping from the beginning of any programme to the end, to the extent that he was nicknamed “The Sleeping Honourable”.
Several attempts by the Speaker advising Hon. Akinniyi to pay attention to his sleeping syndrome has been rebuffed with insults!
Dr.Samuel Omotoso has advised Hon. Sunday Akinniyi to pay more attention to his health and use the period of his suspension to come out of his embarrassing sleeping syndrome by sleeping well at home rather than chasing shadows.
