Lagos gets new Chief Imam

Alhaji Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abu has been named the new Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque.


Abu was turbaned on Friday afternoon at the mosque, shortly before the Juma’at prayer.
He emerged as the 10th Chief Iman of Lagos after a rigorous selection process and replaced Alhaji Garuba Akinola Ibrahim, who died on September 24.
Abu was turbaned by the mosque’s Head of Missioners, Sheikh Tijani Gbajabiamila and another Imam, Mujitaba Giwa.
He is a practising Electrical Engineer and well learned in matters of Islam and a graduate of the Daru-Dawa wal Irshad, Arabic and Islamic College, Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria.
