JUST IN: Oyo Records 2 New Confirmed Cases, Total Number Now 23

Oyo state has recorded two new confirmed cases of Covid-19 as the total number of cases in the state is now 23.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced new cases via its twitter page on Thursday, bringing the country’s total infections to 1,932

The newly-reported cases, as revealed via the Centre on Thursday evening, shows that Kano has the highest number with 80 cases, followed by Lagos with 45 cases.

The 204 new cases are reported from eighteen states are Kano (80), Lagos (45), Gombe (12), Sokoto (9), Bauchi (9), Edo (7), Borno (7), Rivers (6), Ogun (6), FCT (4), Akwa Ibom (4), Bayelsa (4), Kaduna (3), Oyo (2), Delta (2), Nasarawa (2), Ondo (1), Kebbi (1).

The latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 976, followed by Kano (219), Abuja at 178, Gombe (76) Borno (66), Ogun (56), Edo (44), Katsina (40), Bauchi (38), Sokoto (36), Kaduna (35), Osun (34), Oyo (23), Akwa Ibom (16), Rivers (13), Kwara (11). Delta, and Ondo (9), Ekiti, and Taraba (8), Jigawa (7), Bayelsa (5), Zamfara (4), Enugu and Nasarawa (3), Abia, Adamawa, Ebonyi, Kebbi, and Niger (2), while Benue, Plateau, Imo, Yobe, and Anambra state recorded one case each.

The country also recorded seven deaths from the disease on Thursday, bringing the total number of deaths to 58.

Across the world, the novel coronavirus has killed 230,309 people since the outbreak first emerged in China in December, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP at 1900 GMT on Thursday.
