JUST IN: LAUTECH ASUU Joins Nationwide Strike

Sequel to the ongoing indefinite strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over the Federal Government’s failure to meet their demands, the LAUTECH chapter of ASUU has declared that it is joining the strike.

Chairman of ASUU LAUTECH, Dr Biodun Olaniran told Reporters of the Union of Campus Journalists after the Congress meeting today that it is a joint decision and that there is no going back.

The strike which began after ASUU had its National Executive Council meeting On November 4, has been reported to include both Federal and State universities in the country.

“The issue is that ASUU LAUTECH is a member of national ASUU and whatever decision the Union takes, we are legally bound by it,” he said.

“Our demands too are yet to be met and thankfully, some of the demands by the national body are attached to ours and we hope this would be a window for the owner states to do better.”

He went further to say, “Although we have joined the national strike, we are putting into consideration final year students who are yet to be mobilized for NYSC.”
