Joseph Morgan was born on May 16, 1981, in London, England to parents Nick Martin (Father) and Sarah Martin (Mother) as the oldest of three children. He is 42 years old as of August 2023. His father is a professional painter while his mother is a full-time housewife. Joseph Morgan has two siblings- a sister named Crystal Martin and a brother named Jack Martin.
Joseph Morgan studied at the Morriston Comprehensive School located in Cwmrhydyceirw, Wales. He later proceeded to Gorseinon College (now called Gower College Swansea) where he took up a course in BTEC Performing Arts. Afterward, he went back to London to study acting and attended the Central School of Speech and Drama, a constituent of the University of London.

Joseph Morgan made his acting debut in the early 2000s. During this time, he performed in minor roles. These included playing Reverend Parr in the British TV series Spooks (2002), Thomas Culpepper in the British TV series Henry VIll (2003); and Matthias in the BBC TV film Eroica (2003).
In 2004, Joseph Morgan featured as Philotas, yet another supporting role, in the epic historical drama flick “Alexander”, a film on “Alexander The Great”. That same year he also played Troy in the British TV series “Hex”.
In 2011, Joseph Morgan played Niklaus Mikaelson in The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. He also played Lysander in the 2011 film “Immortals”, alongside American actor Henry Cavill.
He remained a part of The Vampire Diaries that aired on CW and its recurring cast in season 2. He also remained in its main cast during seasons 3 and 4 and as a guest star in its 5th and 7th seasons.
In 2020, Joseph Morgan starred in Peacock’s science fiction drama Brave New World as CJack60/Elliot.
