Jose Peseiro Not the Right Man to Lead Super Eagles – Gara-Gombe

Former Gombe United Football Association chairman, Ahmed Gara-Gombe has said that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made a big mistake appointing Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles head coach.

Peseiro has been widely criticised since taking charge of the Super Eagles due to the team’s poor display and results.

The Super Eagles started the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on a disappointing note with two draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The Portuguese has been mandated to win the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to retain his job.

Gara-Gombe posited that the former Venezuela and Saudi Arabia is not good enough to manage the Super Eagles.

“In the first place, hiring Peseiro for the Super Eagles was one of the greatest mistakes we have ever made in the history of our football. Since he took over, what is the outcome?

“Nigeria does not have a pattern, a style of play, and we struggled to win games.

“Let us go and keep on trying our cut and paste strategy, our wobble and fumble strategy,” Gara-Gombe told Channels TV.
