JAMB Releases Number of Candidates Admitted So Far For 2018/2019 Session

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has disclosed that about 24,148 candidates have gained admission into various higher institutions in Nigeria as at August 29, 2018 for the 2018/2019 academic session.

This was made known by JAMB Head of Media, Fabian Benjamin during a telephone chat with newsmen on Wednesday.

The JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, on the other hand has frowned at agitations for the reduction of JAMB Registration fees. According to him, the fee collected by JAMB is one of the lowest in the world. “Why are they not asking WAEC (to reduce fee)? Why are they not asking NECO? Why are they not asking NABTEB? Why JAMB? He asked rhetorically.

He said the exam body would only follow a directive from the appropriate quarters on the cost of UTME.

“If the government feels we should adjust, we will adjust and not as a result of unqualified, baseless requests,” Mr Oloyede said.
